Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhenkanal is a First line Transfer of Technology Project sanctioned by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to operate under Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar in pursuance to the Council’s Office Order No. 5(143)/97 AE-II Dt 07.06.2001.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhenkanal was initially sanctioned on 31.03.1993 and was functioning under the administrative control of CRRI (presently NRRI), Cuttack. It was transferred to the administrative control of Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar during the year 2001. This Kendra is established as the 9th Krishi Vigyan Kendra of OUAT and started functioning from 17.08.2001 in the Mid Central Table Land Zone of Odisha. Presently it is functioning at Mahisapat, Dhenkanal in close proximity of Regional Research Technology Transfer Station, Mahisapat.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, is an integral part of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS), aims at assessment of location specific technology modules in agriculture and allied enterprises, through technology assessment, refinement and demonstrations. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhenkanal have been functioning as Knowledge and Resource Centre of agricultural technology supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector for improving the agricultural economy of the district and are linking the NARS with extension system and farmers.The operational area of this Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhenkanal encompasses all 8 Blocks of the district namely 1. Bhuban, 2. Dhenkanal, 3. Gondia, 4. Hindol, 5. Kamakhyanagar, 6. Kankadahad, 7. Odapada and 8. Parjang
